Community description:Write stories that have between 1001 and 5000 words. New prompts every week.
Every week, you'll find a new writing prompt here. In response, you'll write a story that has between 1001 and 5000 words. Fanfiction, original fiction and poetry all welcome.

1. Using the provided prompts for inspiration (you're free to interpret them any way you see fit), write a fanfic or original story that contains between 1001 and 5000 words, i. e., a short piece of fiction. Poetry is acceptable too, as long as your poem's word count falls within the 1001-5000 word range.

2. Post your story to this community. Please use the following header:

Your story or poem goes here.

Summaries are optional, but you can add them if you wish. Warnings are optional as well, and if you choose to include them, you can use the Notes field for that.

Please, do put your actual story behind a cut. Alternatively, you can post your story elsewhere and just link to it. If you post your story to AO3, please click here to submit it to the Short Fics collection.

3. Each prompt post includes a tag that you should add to your own posts when submitting fills to the community. The tag will look like this: challenge 000 (just replacing that 000 there with the challenge's actual number).

4. You're welcome to submit as many fills as you please. You can either make an individual post per fill, or include two or more fills in the same post. What matters is that you use a header for each story.

5. You can submit stories and poems in any language. Just don't change the header, although you can also fill its fields in your chosen language. The one header field you may want to translate into English is Notes, especially if you wish to provide warnings. Still, that's not mandatory.

6. You're free to combine the challenges from this community with any other challenge you wish. Just check with the other community or site to see if they too allow non-exclusive fills.

7. Past challenges are always open. If you don't feel inspired by a current week's prompt, or if you want to revisit prompts you've already written for, you can do it any time you please. Even if you only see a prompt several years after it's been posted, your fills will be welcome any time you submit them.

8. If any issues arise that are not covered by these rules, I reserve the right to deal with them on a case-by-case basis.

9. Have fun writing your short fics!
